Swaang Theatre Company
Swaang Theatre Company, established in Islamabad in 2020 by two sisters, Sanober Naazir and Kanwal Ajmal, aims to promote art, culture, scriptwriting, and various theatrical activities in the twin cities of Pakistan. It provides a platform for emerging talents to showcase and develop their skills as a stepping stone to higher achievements in the performing arts. The scarcity of theatrical activities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has created a void that Swaang Theatre seeks to fill to the best of its abilities. The sisters leading this initiative have a history of involvement in the country’s social and cultural activities. Sanober previously collaborated with the Dastak Theatre Group in Karachi during the early 90s and currently writes blogs for HumSub, DW, and WENews. She remains actively engaged in the social and cultural scene of the capital city. The other sister, Kanwal, is a graphic designer, painter, stage actor, and DA. Swaang Theatre has successfully staged five plays and three short skits for various organizations. The company’s overarching goal is to revive classical world literature through its theatrical productions.
