Sehyr Mirza

Sehyr Mirza is an author and an independent journalist. Her work encompasses narratives that explore themes such as memory, shared histories, loss, and nostalgia. Her areas of writing cover socio-political issues, South Asian affairs, and art and culture. Her debut book, titled ‘The Other in the Mirror,’ is a collection of short fiction published by Yoda Press in India and Folio Books in Pakistan. This book is a unique literary compilation of short stories that delve into the ongoing impacts of the Partition of India. As the recipient of the Women Waging Peace Award, Sehyr has been awarded fellowships at the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC, the Swedish Institute, and the Rajeev Circle Fellowship in San Francisco. Her work as a journalist has been featured in publications such as Deutsche Welle, BBC, Himal Southasian, Dawn, The News International, Huffington Post, The Wire, Scroll, Viewpoint, and Outlook India. She has reported on features from India, Nepal, the USA, Germany, France, and Sweden. Sehyr is also the co-founder of SAMAAJ, a cultural non-profit organization that utilizes creative mediums to advocate for issues related to conflict, justice, and gender. She holds a degree in English Literature from Goldsmiths, University of London.
