Muneeza Shamsie

Muneeza Shamsie is an author and literary figure with significant contributions to Pakistani literature in English. She is the author of ‘Hybrid Tapestries: The Development of Pakistani Literature in English’ and the editor of the forthcoming ‘In the New Century: An Anthology of Pakistani Literature in English’. She received the Gold IPPY and Bronze Awards in the US for the American edition of her anthology ‘And the World Changed: Contemporary Stories by Pakistani Women’. She has also contributed memoir essays to leading publications. Muneeza Shamsie serves as Area Editor for the online Literary Encyclopedia, Bibliographic Representative (Pakistan) for ‘The Journal of Commonwealth Literature’, and is a member of the Advisory Boards of ‘The Journal of Postcolonial Writing, the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, and the International Centre of Pakistani Writing in English, Kinnaird College. She has served on the jury of several literary prizes and was regional chair (Eurasia) of the Commonwealth Writers Prize 2009-2011. She resides in Karachi and writes for the Pakistani press.
