Moneeza Hashmi
Moneeza Hashmi is a prominent figure in media and broadcasting, with a career spanning over four decades. She serves as a Trustee of the Faiz Foundation, dedicated to promoting the values and vision of poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Ms Hashmi made history as the first woman to hold the position of Director of Programmes at Pakistan Television (PTV) and the only female General Manager in Lahore TV’s history. She also served as the President of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association for three consecutive terms, breaking gender-related barriers. Moneeza Hashmi’s expertise led her to work as a gender trainer and media consultant for various international organizations, including US AID, British Council, UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO, GIZ, UNFPA, JICA, and others, contributing significantly to gender empowerment in the media. Currently, she is the Creative Media Head at the Kashf Foundation, where she continues her efforts to empower women through various media platforms. Her achievements have earned her numerous national and international awards, including the President of Pakistan’s Pride of Performance Award in 2002, particularly for her groundbreaking work in the portrayal of women in the media.
