Arshad Mahmood Nashad
Arshad Mahmood Nashad was born in 1970 in a remote village in Attock, a northwestern district of Punjab. After graduating from Government College, Attock, he obtained MA degrees in Urdu and Punjabi Literature from Punjab University. In 2006, he earned his PhD from Punjab University, Lahore, with a dissertation titled ‘Technical, Structural, and Prosodical Study of Urdu Ghazal.’ Initially, he taught Urdu in private colleges. In March 1997, he was appointed as an Urdu teacher at the Government College of Commerce, Attock. After teaching there for over a decade, he joined the Urdu Department at Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. Today, he serves as an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the PhD Program in the same department. Dr Nashad began his literary journey in 1985 as a poet and later transitioned to prose writing and research. His research articles and poetry have been consistently published in leading literary and research journals in India and Pakistan. He has authored more than three dozen books encompassing poetry, research, editing, and translation. Several of his books have received accolades from prominent academic institutions. Universities have produced four MA and MPhil theses on his thoughts and art, and he has supervised over twenty PhD and nearly fifty MPhil theses. Additionally, more than sixty of his research papers have been published in HEC-approved research journals.
