10th ILF

About the 10th Islamabad Literature Festival

The three-day Islamabad Literature Festival (ILF) will be held this year from the 8th to the 10th of November at the Gandhara Citizens Club, Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park.

This marks the tenth annual iteration of the festival, the premier event of its kind in Pakistan’s capital city. Recognizing the importance of global environmental issues, resource depletion, and climate change, and their particularly harmful effects on Pakistan, this year’s ILF theme is:

Sustainability: Words change Mindsets.

Participants will shed light on the critical issues facing our city, country, and world, seeking ways forward. The aim is not to dwell on the negatives of a bygone past but to look ahead from current trends and explore how we can shape a better future.

We have clearly entered the Digital Age, and future ways of living, working, learning, and thinking will be vastly different from those of the past. Yet, many still cling to outdated ideas, methods, and prejudices that have proven ineffective.

As always, ILF 2024 aims to foster thought-provoking discussions in an environment of openness, pluralism, and intellectual discourse. There will be sessions on developments and trends in Pakistani and world literature, media, entertainment, intellectual life, and daily living. ILF also looks forward to the promise of tomorrow, exploring new writings, trends, and technologies, and providing a platform for emerging authors and writers.

Over 50 sessions, including 18 book launches, are scheduled, featuring a mix of languages we all use. All sessions will be broadcast live worldwide on OUP’s social media channels.

We are excited to once again bring together a diverse group of writers, thinkers, and literary enthusiasts from Pakistan and around the world to share their stories, ideas, and perspectives. This festival is a testament to the power of the written word and its vital role in shaping our communities.

As always, ILF is free and open to all. See you there—no need to register, just turn up!
